Humberside Police appeal following mugging in Scunthorpe

Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident where a female care worker was reportedly mugged in Scunthorpe earlier on Saturday the 18th of April.

It is alleged that at around 06:30,  the woman was cycling along Burringham Road when she was approached from behind by an unknown man.

It’s then reported that the man dragged her from her bike before stealing her handbag.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was left very shaken by the incident.

The man is described as being white, in his early twenties and dressed in all black clothing with a black bobble hat.

Detective Inspector Vicky Huyton of Humberside Police said:

“Understandably, this was a very upsetting incident for a key worker in the local community. If you witnessed anything suspicious in the area this morning, I would urge you to make contact with us.

“I would also ask that drivers who were in the area at the time check their dash cam footage.”

Anybody who has any information or was in the area at the time of the incident should call Humberside Police on 101 quoting incident number 63 of 18 April.
