To mark the re-opening of one of Cleethorpes’ oldest fish & chip shops, and thank our emergency workers, Ernie Becketts are offering free food to all NHS workers this Sunday, the 3rd of May!

As a thank you to key workers in the community, Ernie Becketts are offering fish and chips plus one side to all NHS staff.

Pre-booked slots and contactless collections are available between 12 and 9pm.

In order to adhere to the Government’s social distancing guidelines, they have set up a system were customers are able to pre-book & pay for their orders over the phone.

Customers will be given dedicated time slots, and a safety window will be put between each collection.

Ernie Becketts will re-open to the general public on Monday the 4th of May for pre-booked orders, and contact free deliveries and collections.

Speaking to Gi Media, they said:

“We would like our re-opening to be safe and controlled therefore we will try our best to serve as many orders that we are able to do safely!

We are planning to continuing to thank other sectors of the public in different ways, this is just the start.”

Despite being allowed to remain open for takeaway orders, Ernie Becketts choose to close its doors to the public in March due to safety concerns. They have since made changes to allow them to open and serve the public safely.

For example, the business now accepts card payments, all staff have personal protective equipment, and are equipped to deliver to the vulnerable and isolated.

Ernie Becketts has been in the same family for over 28 years and has been passed down generations.

They say they are determined to survive this epidemic and re-build the business so that they can continue serving the “wonderful people who are from and come to visit Cleethorpes for many more years to come.”

All profits from the purchase of any other meals will go to the local hospital’s charity ‘The Health Tree Charity’.
