Police launch manhunt for escaped Grimsby man
Humberside Police have launched a manhunt after a Grimsby man escaped custody while being transferred to court by security company GEOAmey this morning
Police had already listed Jonathan West, 28, as a wanted man, and a public appeal was issued, before his location was discovered.
But, he has since disappeared again.
Jonathan West, 28, was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Friday.
He had been remanded in custody until his appearance at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court.
However, West absconded while being transferred to court this morning.
In a statement, a Humberside Police spokesperson said:
“Officers in Grimsby are currently searching for Jonathan West who was due to appear in court this morning (Saturday, 2 May).
“West, 28, was arrested and charged with section 18 wounding (grievous bodily harm) yesterday, Friday 1 May, and had been remanded until his appearance at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court…
“On being transferred to court by security company GEOAmey this morning, West absconded and is now wanted by police to be returned to custody.
“A large number of enquiries have already been carried out by police in an attempt to locate him, and officers will continue to proactively look for West in order to arrest him.
“Anyone who believes they know where West is or who has any information as to his whereabouts, is asked to please call police on 101 with log number 124 of 2 May 2020.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 to provide information.”
