Cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries following collision

A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a car in Watford yesterday morning.

The town hall roundabout in Watford was partially closed after a serious collision which happened at the junction of Rickmansworth Road, and St Albans Road yesterday morning.

Police say they were called to a crash involving a cyclist and a Ford Focus at 7.40am.

Police remained at the scene of the crash for most of the morning, while they carried out their investigation.

The road closure in began at Hempstead Road, causing queues in Langley Road, Stratford Road, and Alexandra Road.

It is said that the cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries, and was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Officers for Hertfordshire Constabulary and the Bedforshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Sergeant William Hood, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said:

“Enquiries are being carried out to establish the circumstances around the collision. I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened to please come forward.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dash cam footage of the incident, or events leading up to it.
