Police name man accused of Leigh Park murder

Police name man accused of Leigh Park murder

Police investigating the fatal stabbing of Leigh Park man George Allison have named the man charged with his murder.

George Allison, 21, from Riders Lane, in Leigh Park, died during an incident in Tichborne Grove, Leigh Park, at 11pm on Saturday following an incident where he and another person were stabbed.

A 27-year-old woman from Southsea suffered serious injuries during the same incident.

Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Kevin Batchelor, 25, of East Hill, Camborne, Cornwall, has now been charged with Mr Allison’s murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent after reports of a disturbance at the property.

He is due to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates Court today.

Previously, it was reported that Police had arrested three people in connection with the Leigh Park murder.

Two men, a 31-year-old man from Hayling Island and Mr Batchelor, the 25-year-old man from Camborne in Cornwall were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The third suspect has not been named, and it is not yet known whether all suspects remain in police custody now that Kevin Batchelor has been named and charged as the man accused of the Leigh Park murder.
