Lincoln school closes after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

A school in Lincoln has been forced to close again today after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

Bishop King Primary School has today, Friday, June 5 revealed it has closed after a member of staff registered a positive result for the virus.

This comes as primary schools began to reopen on Monday 1 June for pupils in reception classes, Year 1 and Year 6.
Most had imposed strict social distancing measures in order to make reopening possible.

But, Bishop King Primary School has said that after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus, it has made the decision to close in the interests of children, their families and staff.

A statement from the school’s headteacher Mrs Wheatley read:

“In line with guidance from Public Health England (PHE), we have risk-assessed our school and for the safety of our children, families and staff, we have made the difficult decision to close our school site to everyone for the week beginning June 8, 2020.

“We hope to re-open the site on Monday, June 15 for those pupils who have received invitation letters to return.

“We will keep you updated.”
