Police update on Doncaster murder investigation

South Yorkshire Police have issued an update on a murder investigation that is currently underway in Doncaster.

They have identified and named a 26-year-old woman who died in Doncaster on Friday evening as Amy-Leanne Stringfellow.

Emergency services were called to a property on Dryden Road, Balby, at around 11:35pm on Friday 5 June.

It was reported that a woman had suffered serious injuries.

Upon arrival, she was found to be critically ill.

Amy was sadly pronounced dead a short time after emergency services were called to the property.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

He has been named as Terence Papworth, and has now been charged.

Yesterday, her family released the following statement:

“Our hearts are broken and will never truly be repaired.

“You were beautiful and kind and inspired so many others.

“We know you will live on in your little girl. We love you all the pennies in the world.”

They family have asked for their privacy to be respected during this difficult time.

Terence Papworth will appear before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 8 June.

South Yorkshire Police are also investigating the murder of another Doncaster woman.

Michelle Morris, 52, died following a reported assault in the Stainforth area of Doncaster last month.

She was found with serious head injuries.

Thus far, three people have been arrested in relation to her murder.

The two men, aged 47 and 33, and a 24-year-old woman have since been released on bail.

The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding Michelle’s death.

South Yorkshire Police have requested that anybody who has information on either case contact them via their non emergency number 101.
