Grimsby man jailed after assault on pregnant victim

A man from Grimsby has been jailed after he assaulted his pregnant victim on Valentines day.

Jarred Elliott was jailed for over four years on May 20 for Actual Bodily Harm.

Mr Elliot subjected his ex-girlfriend to a horrific and violent three hour ordeal.

Detective Inspector Kerry Bull of Humberside Police said:

“On sentencing Elliott to four and a half years in jail the Judge has sent a strong message to those who commit domestic abuse.

“Following what was reported as being a ‘toxic’ relationship Jarred Elliot’s pregnant victim suffered a three-hour ordeal during which he broke into her home, attempted to strangle her and threatened to kill her.

“The officers who dealt with this case from CID and the community policing teams are pleased to see justice served to Jarred Elliott for his abuse and threatening behaviour. 

“The victim was very much at the centre of our investigation and it’s rewarding to see justice served for her and take Elliott off our streets for over four years.

“No one should suffer in silence. I want appeal to anyone who has suffered from or is suffering from domestic abuse to come to us.  Please call us and let us help you.  We will listen and we will act on what you tell us.”
