Trouble in Cleethorpes at peaceful BLM Protest
Hundreds of protestors gathered in Cleethorpes today to take part in the Black Lives Matter march.
Protests have been organised around the UK and other parts of the world, after the murder of unarmed African-American man, George Floyd in Minnesota last month.
Humberside Police have been working closely with event organisers to keep the protest peaceful and safe for everyone.
Ahead of the protest, a group of people gathered around the RAF memorial and Memorial Gate, chanting football songs.
Starting from Cleethorpes Leisure centre, demonstrators marched together with banners and signs, towards Brighton slipway.

Once at the slipway, demonstrators were instructed to gather on the beach and continue to keep social distancing, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Protesters knelt in silence for several minutes to show their respect whilst being watched by large crowds on the promenade.
A small group of anti-protestors came onto the beach and began to throw sand at police officers while attempting to provoke BLM protestors.

Police officers then formed a line between the peaceful protesters and the small group.
Speeches were then made by protestors and members of local political parties, including Roy Horobin from the Liberal Democrat party and Loyd Emmerson from the Green Party.
