Man assaulted during attempted theft on Clee Road
Police are looking to trace two suspects after a man was assaulted during an attempted theft on Clee Road in Grimsby.
An attempted robbery victim was punched in the head by two men who tried to steal his mobile phone as he walked along a Grimsby street.
Police are looking to trace two suspects, who were both white, following the incident, which occurred on Clee Road on Thursday, June 11 around 4.30pm.
Humberside Police say the suspects reportedly punched him, causing bruising and swelling to his face.
The man retaliated and the suspects left empty handed, travelling in the direction of Weelsby Woods.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said:
“We are appealing for witnesses or for anyone that saw two men acting suspiciously on Clee Road/Humberston Road, Grimsby in the early evening of Thursday, June 11.
“A man walking alone on Clee Road, at around 4.30pm, was approached by two men who attempted to take his mobile phone from him.
“The two suspects are reported to have punched the victim to the head, causing bruising and swelling to his face.
“The victim managed to retaliate and the two suspects left empty handed in the direction of Weelsby Woods.
“Anyone that saw anything that could help with our investigation is asked to call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 341 of June 11, 2020.”
One of the suspects is believed to be in his mind 30s, around 6ft tall and of average build.
At the time, he was wearing Nike trainers, grey jogging bottoms, a puffa style dark blue coat and a black Nike baseball cap.
The second man was described as having a “scruffy” appearance.
He was also thought to be in his mid-30s and around 5ft 10i, slim, with dark brown hair and a tattoo on his neck.
He was wearing blue Adidas trainers and a grey tracksuit.
