Over 400 arrests in three weeks

Humberside Police made 36 arrests yesterday, taking their total arrests made by the Operation Galaxy team to over 400 in just three weeks.

Warrants executed in Hull yesterday have pushed the running total of those detained to 405 people since Operation Galaxy launched a five-week initiative.

The Galaxy teams carried out eight warrants at addresses across Hull in early morning raids, seizing a large quantity of cannabis from seven properties with an estimated street value of over one million pounds.

After the 12 arrests made in Hull yesterday morning, officers arrested a further 24 people.

These were for various offences including drugs offences, criminal damage and robbery.

In total, since the start on Tuesday, 26 May, 86 warrants have been carried out across the Humberside force area.

Humberside Police say that this activity is continuing in addition with high visibility patrols and community engagement.

Speaking yesterday, Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said:

“We are continuing our investigations and enforcement against cannabis factories across North East Lincolnshire, helping to take drugs and offenders off of our streets.

“Our dedicated operation began just over a month ago and in total now over 2500 cannabis plants have been recovered from nine cannabis factories discovered, eight people have been charged and six further arrests have been made.

“My team are dedicated to making North East Lincolnshire and beyond a safer place to live and will continue to take action against those intent on challenging that.”
