A Hull man has been charged with causing deaths of two people by careless and inconsiderate driving in connection to a collision on the M1.

South Yorkshire Police have reported that two men sadly died as a result of the incident.

Prezemyslaw Zbigniew Szuba, 40, of Kingston Upon Hull has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

The charges related to road traffic collision on the M1 on June 7 2019.

At around 8.15am, emergency services received reports of a three vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway near junction 34, just north of the Tinsley Viaduct.

The incident involved a silver Ford Focus, a silver Ford transit van and a lorry.

Paramedics attended the scene and attempted to treat two men.

However, both 44-year-old Jason Mercer and 22-year-old Alexandru Murgeanu were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Szuba will appear before Sheffield Magistrates Court in September 2020.
