Man stabbed in Doncaster

A man has been stabbed following an attack on Hexthorpe Road in Doncaster this morning.

South Yorkshire Police said the 30-year-old was found seriously injured when emergency services were called to the scene at 5.55am today.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers for South Yorkshire Police closed Hexthorpe Road while detectives assessed the scene and enquiries were carried out.

Traffic was diverted to avoid the crime scene.

No arrests have yet been made over the attack.

Fortunately, the victim’s injuries are not thought to be serious, and he was subsequently discharged from hospital.

This is was one of only two stabbings dealt with by South Yorkshire Police this morning, with another occurring in Sheffield.

Detective Inspector Ben Wood said:

“I understand this may be concerning to residents.

“I want to assure you our investigation is continuing at pace and that we have neighbourhood officers in the area for your reassurance.

“We are in the early stages of the investigation but we believe the incidents are not connected.”
