Body of missing John Davis found
Police have now announced the tragic discovery of a body believed to be local man John Davis, almost six months after he went missing.
John Davis, 56, of North Cotes, disappeared on Wednesday 29 January.
Several weeks of extensive searches were carried out after his brother Geoffrey said that he had left in a “really bad state”.
Now, social media tributes have begun pouring in after a body believed to be Mr Davis was found in woodland near Middle Rasen.
Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that his family have been informed of the discovery of the body.
At the time of his disappearance searches took place in Grimsby, as well as in the Holton-le-Clay and Tetney areas.
John Davis’ car was found in Grimsby on January 31, but despite possible sighting, he himself was not found during police searches.
In February, his brother Geoffrey issued renewed the public appeal, asking John to get in touch and let his family know he was safe.
He said:
“He just needs to know there’s a lot of help here for him.
“And John, your big brother is waiting for you, you can come back home and you will be safe.”
A statement released by Lincolnshire Police on Saturday said:
“On Friday morning (10 July) a body of a man was discovered in the woods at Middle Rasen.
“While formal identification has yet to take place, officers believe it is John Davis who was reported missing from North Cotes on 29 January.
“This is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed.”
