John Travolta’s wife, Kelly Preston, has died of breast cancer.

The wife of John Travolta, Kelly Preston, has died of breast cancer after a two year secret battle with disease.

Kelly, who starred in films such as Mischief and Jerry Maguire, decided to keep her two year battle with cancer out of the public eye.

A family representative released a statement to People, saying:

“On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer.  Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends. She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”

Travolta’s Greece co-star, Olivia Newtown-John, has taken to Twitter to offer her condolences.

The couple married in September 1991 and celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary last year.  Kelly leaves behind her husband John and their daughter Ella, 20, and nine-year-old son Benjamin.

The couple suffered an incredible loss back in 2009 when their eldest son died after suffering a seizure whilst on holidays in the Bahamas.

After his death, the couple leaned heavily into the Church of Scientology, which Travolta noted had been “pivotal to his recovery” in the weeks and months afterwards.

The Church of Scientology is yet to release their condolences or public response.
