SYP investigate death of another Doncaster woman

South Yorkshire Police (SYP) have named the victim at the centre of their current investigation into the death of another Doncaster woman.

At least five Doncaster women have been killed over the past seven weeks.

The most recent murder probe concerns the death of Claire Anderson, who has now been formally identified.

Claire Anderson, 35, was found unconscious in a property on Thorne Road just before 9.30pm on Saturday, July 11.

She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, but has since been released under investigation.

A postmortem examination proved inconclusive and Ms Anderson’s death is being treated as unexplained.

Detectives are now attempting to establish Ms Anderson’s movements prior to the discovery of her body.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oughton said:

“My thoughts are with Claire’s family, who are being supported by our specialist family liaison officers.

“Secondly, I’d like to make an appeal to the public who I hope can help us with information that might assist our investigation.

“We are currently treating Claire’s death as unexplained.

“My officers are working hard to piece together her movements in the days leading up to her death.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has information about where she was between 8.30pm on Thursday, July 9 and 9pm on Saturday, July, 11.

“If you know where Claire was, or saw her between those days and times, then I’d urge you to speak to us.

“Even the smallest bit of information might be useful, we are looking for any details about who she might have been with, where she might have been or who she might have spoken to.”

Sadly, this is the fifth death of a woman in Doncaster investigated by SYP over the past seven weeks.
