Updates on the Duke Street incident

Officers for Humberside Police cordoned off the entire length of Duke Street in Grimsby this morning, following reports of a stabbing.

The incident is thought to have taken place at around 6am.

Emergency services attended the scene, and police officers entered a boarded up property.

They subsequently arrested a man from the house in Rutland Street, and escorted him from the scene.

There are currently two teams of Crime Scene investigators on Duke Street, carrying out their examinations.

There are also six Humberside Police officers on the scene, carrying out door to door investigations around Rutland Street, Stanley Street and Grafton Street.

Detectives have also been seen photographing and searching the street.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said:

“Officers are in attendance at Duke Street in Grimsby following reports that a man sustained injuries during an assault at around 5am today.

“The man has been taken to hospital with what are thought to be serious but not life-threatening injuries.

“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and he remains in custody at this time.

“We are in the early stages of our investigations and would appeal for anyone that saw or heard anything that would help with our enquiries to call 101 quoting log 82 20 July 2020.”
