Suspect released following fatal collision
A man arrested in connection with a fatal road collision last week has now been released, Lincolnshire Police have confirmed.
A 29-year-old woman tragically died following the three-car crash on the A16.
The incident occurred at around 6pm on July 15.
Officers confirmed that they had arrested a male suspect at the scene.
He has since been released, and investigations are ongoing.
The collision involved a silver Peugeot 208, a silver Ford Fiesta and a grey Mercedes GLA.
In addition to the fatality, several people were reported to be being treated in hospital for their injuries.
The condition of those injured in the incident is currently unknown.
In a statement immediately following the incident, a spokesperson for the force said:
“A collision between three cars in London Road at Burwell was reported to us at 6.21pm.
“The collision involved a silver Peugeot 208, a silver Ford Fiesta and a grey Mercedes GLA.
“Several people have been injured, officers can confirm one person died at the scene and a man has been arrested.
“We urgently need to hear from anyone who has captured dashcam footage or witnessed what happened. Please call 101 quoting 372 of today.”
The following day, an updated statement was released:
“The woman who tragically lost her life in this collision was 29 years of age.
“Next of kin have been informed.
“Several people remain in hospital and are receiving treatment for their injuries.
“The man who was arrested remains in custody.
“Officers would like to renew the appeal for any relevant dash cam footage captured by motorists.
“They would particularly like to hear from anyone who witnessed or captured footage of the Mercedes GLA prior to the collision in the Burwell area.”
Lincolnshire Police have issued appeal for any dashcam footage or witness accounts of the Mercedes GLA prior to the collision.
