Work has been completed on 36 new homes at Ellison Place, which has been built on a historic site in Lincoln.

The developers, Lindum Group, have promised that the new-builds will provide much-needed affordable housing in the area.

Built on the old Boultham dairy, on Boultham Park Road, the estate is comprised of forty-six new properties.

Nineteen of these are to be made available on a shared ownership basis.

This typically costs tenants 20% less than privately renting a similar sized property.

Developers say that the remainder of the properties will be subject to ‘affordable rents’.

Ellison Place is made up of six three-bed townhouses, 12 three-bedroom semi-detached houses and 18 two-bedroom semi-detached homes.

A mosque and a supermarket have also been built on the land.

The Boultham dairy was the main provider of dairy products for Lincoln until its closure in 2012.

Councillor Gary Hewson said:

“It’s a great development for the area and it’s something that I’m proud to have supported.

“I was involved in the planning application a few years back. It’s nice to see the completion of the full development. We started off with the supermarket, which people appreciated.

“There were some concerns with the wider issues of the planning application of the supermarket, mosque and houses at the time.

“It’s been appreciated by the local community.

“The mosque is something that the Muslim association appreciated as they needed their own building for place of worship.

“It’s the right place for it to be. There’s no car parking problems, which were envisaged by the local residents. We’ve had no complaints from the neighbours.

“We’ve got what looks like a lovely new housing estate for the area and it looks a great asset.”
