Man seriously injured after group attack

A man has been seriously injured after a group of people who jumped out of taxi attacked him at the corner of Stanley Street and Castle Street in Grimsby.

The victim has alleged that three men and a woman attacked him with weapons before fleeing the scene.

He is believed to have been seriously injured, and was transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary to receive treatment.

Emergency services, including armed police and dog sections attended the scene at the junction of Stanley Street and Castle Street.

Four people have since been arrested in connection with the assault, which took place at around 10pm on Monday evening.

Crowds gathered as armed police and dog sections were deployed to the Grimsby street.

A spokesperson for the force said:

“Four people have been arrested following reports of an assault at the junction of Stanley Street and Castle Street at around 10pm yesterday, Monday 20 July.

“It was reported that a man was approached by three men and a woman who got out of a vehicle and allegedly assaulted him with weapons before fleeing on foot.

“Three men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault, they remains in our custody whilst enquiries continue.”

Humberside Police have confirmed that an investigation has been launched.

Officers have urged anyone with information to call 101, quoting log 629 of Monday, July 20.
