North East Lincolnshire Council have issued a reminder to residents regarding the works at Toll Bar roundabout, which are set to begin next week.

If possible, motorists are advised to avoid Toll Bar roundabout next week.

A series of delays and closures are expected over the initial four days of the six-month scheme while splitter islands on the entries into the roundabout are temporarily removed.

According to a statement released by the council, this will allow the roundabout to remain largely open throughout the remainder of the project, without the need for traffic signals.

From Monday Station Road east and west into the roundabout will be closed between 7.30am and 7pm.

The A16 will be subject of two-way traffic signals.

This is expected to last for up to four days.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, Cabinet member for highways, said:

“There were a number of options of completing this initial week of work, but after we talked with local residents and parish councils, the daytime closures were the preferred option.

“Whilst there will be disruption, we have timed these works to start after Tollbar Academy has closed for the summer to reduce it as much as we can.”

Bus routes affected by the works will be diverted.

The programme is being undertaken by contractors CR Reynolds on behalf of North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner ENGIE.
