The breakdown of the figures by local authority area, according to the latest data obtained by the BBC (Saturday, July 25) is: Hampshire – 5,072, Southampton – 947, Portsmouth – 507, and the Isle of Wight – 421.

The coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease known as Covid-19, was first confirmed in the UK at the end of January.
