A man remains in hospital following an attack on Duncombe Street in Grimsby on Saturday evening.

The incident, which occurred at around 6.40pm, took place after a group of between three to four men arrived in vehicles and launched an assault.

It is thought to have followed an earlier altercation inside a nearby property.

A police cordon was in place for several hours on Duncombe Street, while officers investigated the scene.

Scene of crime officers and East Midlands Ambulance crews were in attendance.

The victim was left with serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

His condition is said to be stable.

Humberside Police detectives are continuing to investigate the attack and have issued a new appeal.

Today, Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said:

“Our investigation into this assault remains active and we have been investigating many lines of enquiry to find the people responsible.

“I want to reassure the local community that we believe this incident to be isolated and are doing everything we can to bring those responsible in.

“Violence of any kind will not be tolerated and our local teams patrol regularly in the area to allow them to deal with anyone causing harm quickly.

“We are appealing for anyone who has not yet spoken with us who may have witnessed the assault or has dash cam or CCTV footage, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 16/78051/20.”

The assault is thought to be an isolated incident.
