Lincolnshire Police have discovered a car burnt out at an allotments site in Lincoln after a vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run with a cyclist.

Police received calls regarding the Peugeot estate after it was found on fire at the community gardens behind St Peter’s Avenue.

The vehicle was discovered at around 7am on Monday, July 27.

It comes after a 39-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a car in Turner Avenue at about 4.30pm on Friday, July 24.

The cyclist is reported to have been seriously injured.

The motorist fled the scene, and the cyclist was taken to hospital.

A male suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Lincolnshire Police have now issued the following appeal:

“The vehicle is believed to be the gold Peugeot estate involved in a hit and run on Turner Avenue, Lincoln, on Friday 24th July, where a man received serious injuries.

“The ‘hit and run’ is being investigated as a GBH level assault, where we believe the vehicle has been used as a weapon.

 “A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this and released on bail. 

“We are appealing to the public for any information relating to either the assault or the vehicle fire.

“We are asking for people who were in the areas of Turner Avenue on Friday at around 6.30pm and St Peters Avenue this morning, to please check their dash cams/personal CCTV and to let police know via 101 , quoting crime 20000381159, if they have any footage or other useful information.”

The extent of the cyclist’s injuries are currently unknown.
