Heatwave hits Doncaster

Temperatures are set to soar with a heatwave hitting Doncaster, as the town reaches highs of around 30C today.

The Met Office have predicted that today will be the hottest day of the year so far, with a short burst of warm weather.

So far this week, temperatures have been relatively cool.

Locals will also see cloudy skies disappear, with weather remaining warm and dry.

However, the weather is not expected to last.

The heatwave will hit the town on Friday, July 31, causing temperatures to rise to 30°C in what could be the hottest day of the year so far.

But slightly cooler temperatures are expected towards the weekend, with it dropping to around 18C or 19C on Sunday.

Earlier today, The Met Office tweeted:

“Temperatures are climbing across the UK today with the peak of the hot spell tomorrow, followed by cooler conditions on Saturday”

UV levels will also vary between high and very high over the next few days.

Warning around the use of appropriate sun protection have been issued.

The brief heatwave would see the town become hotter than Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.
