Man arrested following drugs warrant in Swindon

A man was arrested after drugs were found at an address in Rodbourne, Swindon.

Officers conducted a warrant at an address in Barnham Court as a result of information supplied by the local community and ongoing patrols in the area.

During the warrant a quantity of class A and B drugs were located, as well as a number of high value goods believed to be proceeds of crime.

A 50-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and money laundering and was taken to Gablecross police station for further questioning.

A/Sgt Nathan Martin of Wiltshire Police said: “We are aware of the concerns expressed by local people in Rodbourne in relation to illegal drug use in the area in recent weeks and in response to this we have been conducting a number of regular overt and covert patrols to provide both reassurance and tackle those intent on supplying drugs within our communities.

“We’ve had some good results on the back of this work combined with the information provided to us by residents, and we were able to arrest a man following a warrant at an address which has been causing concerns for neighbours in recent weeks. We will be seeking a closure order for the address over the next few weeks.

“The supply of illegal drugs can be detrimental to those directly and indirectly involved and we are intent on tackling those who offend.
I hope this result provides reassurance and encourages others to report any issues they may be experiencing in their neighbourhood.”

To report suspected drug activity, call 101.
