By Motorist caught speeding at 155mph on M180
Officers for Humberside Police have reprimanded a motorist who was caught tearing down the M180 at 155mph yesterday afternoon.
The driver, who was in a silver BMW, carried the speed down a three mile stretch of the motorway.
He travelled more than double the speed limit, quickly attracting police attention.
Humber Roads Police took to social media to warn that the British Grand Prix was no excuse for the speeding offence.
They released a video, captioned
“It may be the Silverstone F1 this weekend but if you travel at 155mph for three miles on the M180 you will be stopped and dealt with.”
The offence follows a spate of speeding offences during lockdown, where empty roads appeared to encourage several people to drive at excessive and dangerous speeds.
The worst one caught on the M180 reached 156mph.
Several motorists were also found to be going at more than double the speed limit in 30mph zones.
