A&E improvements for hospitals in Humber region ahead of winter

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault in Chinnor.

A man in his thirties has been assaulted outside his address in Springfield Gardens.

On Thursday 30 July, just before 1am, the victim was at home with a friend when they heard a vehicle outside his property. After going outside to investigate and ask them to leave he was approached by two men which led to an altercation.

One of the men then hit the victim, and the other assaulted the victim by hitting him over the head and knocking him to the ground. The two men and a woman then got back in the vehicle, a silver or grey hatchback, and left the scene.

As a result of the attack, the victim sustained serious head injuries including a fractured skull and swelling to the brain and is being treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital.  He has still not been discharged.

Since that time, two men aged 24 and 30 from Chinnor and a woman aged 24 from Thame have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public space and have since been released under investigation.

Investigating officer Craig Gibson from Abingdon police station said:

“I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has any information relating to this incident to please get in touch. This is a quiet area at this time of night, so if you saw or heard anything suspicious, or have CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area at the time, please come forward.”

You can make a report online or by calling 101 and quoting reference 43200234245.
