Serious assault on Southsea Common
A 40-year-old woman was hurt in what police believe was a sexually motivated attack on Southsea Common on Monday (August 3).
Patrols have now been stepped up in the area.
The woman was walking near to Clarence Esplanade towards the Pyramid Centre, between 9.40pm and 11.30pm, when she was approached and grabbed from behind by a man.
She was then seriously assaulted and suffered a possible fractured cheekbone and bruising to her face, arms, legs and back.
Officers investigating the attack believe it was sexually motivated and are appealing for information.
The man has been described as white with a heavy build and facial hair. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark top with a zip, and a blue surgical face mask.
