Plans for former Cleethorpes art gallery
A new proposal for the former Mustard Seed art gallery on Alexandra Road, Cleethorpes, has been revealed.
The plans would see the unit become a multi-use property, with three flats set to be created on the upper floors, and a restaurant or cafe unit below.
Currently, planners are awaiting planning permission from North East Lincolnshire Council.
According to the application, the new cafe would have one full-time employee and two part-time workers.
Its opening hours are listed as 9am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
It also says:
“The loss of the site as a gallery (the Mustard Seed Gallery also sold artwork in a similar manner to a shop and included art classes) is regrettable but it is not a community asset and in any case, it has been closed for some time.”
If approved, Tetney-based North East Lincolnshire Properties Ltd are expected to begin the refurbishment almost immediately.
Planning agent Daniel Snowden, of Ross Davy Associates, said:
“It was the former Mustard Seed Gallery and it is a conversion into a cafe and restaurant on the ground floor and then three flats on the upper floors.
“As soon as the planning permission comes through, they would be looking to commence refurbishment works straight away.
“Alexandra Road is part of North East Lincolnshire Council’s Cleethorpes heritage frontages scheme so we are going to be putting it back to its original appearance.
“It will create employment benefits as well and it will be renovating the building back to its original appearance.
“It is definitely a positive for the area and for Alexandra Road.”
The property on the corner of Dolphin Street, has been closed for around two years.
It is currently partially boarded up.
A decision from North East Lincolnshire Council is expected soon.
