South Yorkshire Police officers were called to a collision outside Hexthorpe Primary Academy on Urban Road, Doncaster on Saturday.

The scene which greeted them resulted in several comical responses and puns.

Officers posted the picture on social media, with the amusing caption:

“Not quite sure how this happened. ‘Hundreds and thousands’ worth of damage caused to the van and railings.

“Thankfully nobody was hurt and the driver has passed a breath test.”

Members of the public responded, adding their own comments including:

“He should carry a magnum for protection.”

“Looks like he took the Cornetto fast!!”

And “I think he did 99 pounds worth of damage and you should of put the cones around the van.”
