Doncaster Council premier VJ Day film

Doncaster Council are to premier a new film to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VJ Day this afternoon – see it here, on Youtube or on the Council website.

Today is the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, the day when Japan surrendered on 15 August 1945, which ended the Second World War.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a number of VJ Day and Remembrance Sunday parades have been cancelled and replaced with virtual commemorations.

To mark the occasion, Doncaster Council have created a special online film, which will premiere here today, Saturday 15 August, at 2pm, and via Visit Doncaster’s Youtube channel.

There will also be a two minute silence at 11am today, with a single piper playing ‘The Battles O’er’.
