Witnesses sought after serious Doncaster collision

Officers for South Yorkshire Police’s Operational Support team are investigating a serious collision in Carcroft, Doncaster.

An appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage has been issued following the crash.

On Sunday 28 June, two people were seriously injured in a road traffic incident.

Two vehicles are reported to have collided near to the junction of the B1220 Askern Road, and Owston Lane at around 16:00.

The vehicles involved were a silver Transit minibus and a metallic light brown Volkswagon Passat.

A 56 year old man, who was passenger in the Passat, suffered multiple injuries including a broken neck in the collision.

A 23 year old man, who was driving in the Passat, suffered hand injuries.

Both men are said to be in a stable condition, and in recovery at home.

Officers are now seeking witnesses in relation to the serious Doncaster collision.

A statement released by a spokesperson for the force said:

“Officers are urging anyone with information about the collision to contact them, they are also interested in hearing from anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident.

“Please call 101 quoting incident number 591 of 28 June.

“You can send footage to enquiries@southyorks.pnn.police.uk including the incident number in the subject line.”

This appeal comes as the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership releases details regarding casualty figures on Doncaster’s roads over the past year.

New data reveals that deaths increased by 12.4% in 2019, compared to figures in 2018.
