Coastguard searches River Humber after person enters water

Coastguard, police and fire crews were all involved in an overnight search after a person was reported to have entered the River Humber in Hull.

The coastguard received a notice of concern for the welfare of a person east of St Andrews Quay.

Coastguard Teams, Humberside Police, Humber Rescue, National Police Air Service helicopter and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service launched an immediate and extensive search of the surrounding areas.

Helicopters and drones were both deployed in the search.

But, ultimately with nothing found.

The search has subsequently been suspended pending further information.

Earlier in the day, the coastguard also received reports of a person in the water near to The Deep in Hull, and a horse stuck in mud near to Humber Mouth Yacht Club in Cleethorpes.

Humber Rescue arrived on the scene near to The Deep within minutes.

Fortunately, the person in question managed to self rescue back to shore just prior to the arrival of the coastguard.

They were taken into the care of Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

Humberside Police and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

Cleethorpes Coastguard attended the scene to aid the rescue of the horse in Cleethorpes.

Again, the horse thankfully became free prior to their arrival.

There were no other casualties.
