Police target drug problems at two Watford parks

Watford parks saw two days of intensive police action in response to residents’ concerns about drugs.
Local officers from Watford Outer Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out a proactive operation focusing on Waterfields Recreation Ground and Oxhey Park.
They patrolled the areas every hour in order to deter offenders and identify anyone who was engaging in criminal activity.
Eighteen people were stopped and searched in total, five of whom were found to be in possession of drugs and this was dealt with by the attending Officers.
A spokesperson for Watford Police said: “But our work won’t stop there – we will continue regular patrols of these areas to combat this issue and reassure people that your local parks are pleasant and safe places to spend time in.
“We are encouraging the nearby residents and park users to continue engaging with us and report any further problems that they are experiencing so we can target our resources accordingly.
“You can provide this information quickly and easily using our community voice platform ‘echo’. Your feedback will help towards shaping our local policing priorities, initiatives and campaigns.”
Visit and tell police what you think.
