Controversial plans for 150 new houses in Scunthorpe
A controversial proposal has been submitted for 150 new homes to be built on a busy Scunthorpe road, despite opposition from residents.
The homes would be built on land situated just off Burringham Road, next to the Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Plans show that the new-builds would border existing houses on the road.
The developer says it would provide needed local houses.
If the application is approved, the developer has agreed to give a strip of land next to the site to Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
The suggestion is that the hospice could use this green space as a woodland walk for patients.
The hospice says that it doesn’t have any objections.
But a public consultation shows that locals have already have concerns regarding the increased traffic that would be created if the large development goes ahead.
The application, which is one of the largest submitted for Scunthorpe in recent years, is being pursued by Brigg-based developer DDM Agriculture Ltd.
Residents are currently able to submit comments on the Burringham Road development via North Lincolnshire Council’s Planning website.
