Pub reveals Covid-19 test results

A village pub near Grimsby that closed temporarily due to a suspected Covid-19 case has today received ‘fantastic’ news.

The New Inn, in Great Limber, kept its pub doors closed over the weekend, fearing it had a case of coronavirus on its hands, however tests have now come back negative.

A statement on The New Inn’s Facebook page read: “Fantastic news this afternoon, we have just received the result of the covid test and it was thankfully negative for covid!

“We are now taking advice as to how we move forward, as the NHS and Gov sites are rather confusing.

“We will of course update everyone via this page just as soon as we have more news.”

It thanked everyone who had called and messaged with good wishes.

The business earlier announced it had closed temporarily as a precautionary measure and asked recent customers to get in touch, a move that was widely praised by its followers.

One person thanked the pub through social media, saying: “A massive thank you for doing the right thing, wishing you all, all the best and fingers crossed you’ll be back up and running very soon.”

This grade II listed inn, presented by Coastal & Country Inns, nestles in the heart of the Brocklesby Estate and has welcomed visitors for nearly 240 years.

It is located near Humberside Airport and within 15 minutes’ drive of Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and Immingham.
