Investigation launched after attempted murder

Humberside Police have launched an attempted murder investigation following an incident in Althorpe, near Scunthorpe.

Officers were called to an address on Derrythorpe Road at 2.40pm on Monday, September 7.

On arrival, they discovered a man with serious injuries inside a property.

Ambulance services attended the scene, and the man was taken to hospital where he remains.

Two people were arrested in connection with the incident.

Since the incident, there has been a heavy police presence, with Crime Scene Investigators outside the property.

An investigation has been launched and is ongoing, but Humberside Police have stated that this case of attempted murder is thought to be an isolated incident.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said:

“We were called to an address on Derrythorpe Road in Althorpe near Scunthorpe at 2.40pm on Monday 7 September.

“On arrival at the address a man was found to have sustained serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

“Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and perverting the course of justice in connection with this incident.

“They remain in our custody at this time as enquiries continue.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident and would like to reassure the public that there is no wider threat to them.

“Anyone with information that could be of help to our investigation is asked to call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 233 of 7 September 2020.”

Both people remain in custody, having been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and perverting the course of justice.

The victim is said to be in critical but stable condition.
