Attempted murder case progresses

An investigation into an attempted murder case in Althorpe, near Scunthorpe, is ongoing, Humberside Police have confirmed.

Detectives were called to the address on Derrythorpe Road at around 2.40pm on Monday 7 August.

On arrival, they discovered a male victim who had sustained serious and potentially life threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Speaking at the time, a Humberside Police spokesperson said:

“We were called to an address on Derrythorpe Road in Althorpe near Scunthorpe at 2.40pm on Monday 7 September.

“On arrival at the address a man was found to have sustained serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

“Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and perverting the course of justice in connection with this incident.

“They remain in our custody at this time as enquiries continue.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident and would like to reassure the public that there is no wider threat to them.

“Anyone with information that could be of help to our investigation is asked to call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 233 of 7 September 2020.”

The two people who were arrested on Monday have now been charged in connection with the incident, Humberside Police have confirmed.

Joanne Singleton, 48, of Derrythorpe Road, Althorpe has been charged with attempted murder.

Fox Singleton, 21, of Derrythorpe Road, Althorpe has been charged with assisting an offender.

Both have been remanded into police custody.

They are due to appear in Grimsby Magistrates Court today, Friday 11 September.

According to an updated police report, a third person has also now been arrested in connection with the incident.

He remains in custody.
