By Disappointing news for firework fans
Hundreds of firework fans will be disappointed this year as one of the biggest and most popular displays in Grimsby and Cleethorpes is called off.
Cleethorpes Cricket Club has announced “the news we didn’t really want to make” – that the huge event has been cancelled.
It said in a statement: “After a long spring and summer, lockdown and online meetings making plans, we have unfortunately made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s annual firework display. The area’s best. We felt we could not compromise quality even if a small number was allowed to attend.”
However the club, in Chichester Road, announced plans are already taking place for next year, with the 2021 event to be “bigger and better than ever”.
It added: “We hope you all understand the decision we have made for everyone’s safety. Stay safe and see you all soon.”
Every year the event is one of the most popular on the resort’s calendar, with hundreds of families wrapping up warm and turning out to enjoy a professionally organised pyro-musical firework display.
