Final call for Blue Badge renewals
North East Lincolnshire Council has issued a final call for residents who have not yet renewed their expired blue badges.
Rules regarding enforcement were relaxed at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, in line with government guidance.
As such, penalty charge notices are currently not being issued to blue badges with an expiry date of 1 January 2020 onwards.
However, enforcement is set to restart as of 1 October 2020.
Civil enforcement officers will be issuing warning notices during October, and penalty charge notices from 1 November 2020 onwards.
Due to the number of applications expected, residents are urged to renew their badges as soon as possible in order3 to avoid being fined.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn said:
“Our teams continue to work hard ensuring all expired blue badge holders are aware of the requirement to re-apply and avoid unnecessary fines.
“We still have a number of residents in the area with expired badges and it’s crucial they come forward as soon as possible to start the application process.
“We’re following the latest Government guidance and will only be issuing warning notices during October, but the sooner these expired blue badge holders come forward, the more likely they are to have their application processed and avoid fines when enforcement does fully restart in November.”
