Closure order granted at Cleethorpes property

A closure order has been granted at a property in Cleethorpes as part of ongoing work to tackle antisocial behaviour in the communities.

Today, Officers for Humberside Police have enforced the order.

Since February, a number of reports of drug use, suspicious activity and other antisocial behaviour have been received regarding the address in Murfin Close.

This which has resulted in a number of arrests and police visits.

Unfortunately, despite ongoing action and intervention from the Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, little changed at the address.

The occupants have now been banned from returning to the house, and a closure order is in place until December 23.

Neighbourhood Beat Officer Gary Cooksey said:

“We are really pleased that the courts have taken on board our application for a closure order at this property, which will remain in place until midnight on December 23.

“We know that the behaviour of the people living in and visiting this property has had a severe impact on the sense of safety and wellbeing of others in this area.

“No one should be made to feel like they are unsafe in their own community and that’s why we have done everything in our power to protect them.

“We do not use these powers lightly and before we got to this stage, we have issued community protection warnings and community protection notices to let the occupants know that their behaviour was not acceptable.

“However, they did not take this opportunity to change their ways and now, not only have they been served an eviction notice, but the closure order is in place to prevent them returning.

“I would like to thank our partners and the community for their help and support in seeking this application.

“I hope that now this order has been granted they will be get the respite they deserve.”
