A collision has taken place on Theodore Road in Scunthorpe, as localised road-traffic accidents and incidents of vehicle related crime appear to be on the rise.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following the incident, which occurred yesterday, Sunday 27 September.

He has also been arrested in connection with an assault on an emergency worker after he attempted to flee the scene.

Officers for Humberside Police reported the incident via social media, saying:

“It seems someone thought todays Grand Prix was on Theodore Road and not in Russia!

“This driver clearly doesn’t have the skill of an F1 driver, and certainly not after a drink!

“Thankfully no one was injured in the collision.”

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.

Elsewhere in Scunthorpe, a report made by a member of the public has resulted in an abandoned vehicle being recovered by the police.

The vehicle was found in a lay-by off of Mortal Ash Hill, and displayed false plates.

It is thought to have been stolen stolen before being used to commit crime.

Today, the Roads Policing Unit have recovered two cars which were stolen over the last couple of weeks.

A white Volkswagen Polo was located in Keadby and a silver Audi A8 in Scunthorpe.

The cars will be examined by CSI before being returned to the owners, Humberside Police have confirmed.
There have also been multiple collisions on the A180 in recent weeks.
Humberside Police have urged motorists to exercise caution, and to protect their vehicles from opportunistic criminals.
