Wet weather for the weekend

Weather forecasters have uttered the word ‘snow’ for the first time this season – but don’t worry it’s not in North East Lincolnshire.

Weather conditions across the UK have changed markedly in recent days, as the mercury has dropped down to the low teens and windy downpours swept across the country.

Forecasters expect the wetter and windier conditions to dominate over the next couple of weeks, with the first sprinkling of snow expected in north west Scotland from the start of October and heavier snowfall expected the following week.

Closer to home BBC weather forecasters state the period from October 1 will be unsettled, characterised by wind and rain.

“A large-scale low-pressure trough will take up residence near the UK by the second half of next week (and the first few days of October).

“This will bring frequent low-pressure systems over the UK, which will make the end of the week wet, windy at times, and generally unsettled.”

The Met Office says tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Grimsby area will be overcast changing to sunny intervals by lunchtime and highs of 15C in the afternoon.

Wednesday will see a cloudy day with light rain in the evening, highs of 15C.

Cloud and highs of 13C will come on Thursday, while Friday will see showers arrive on the scene late-morning and highs of 12C.

Looking ahead to the weekend and sad to say Saturday will see heavy rain for most of the day until the early evening, highs of 14C.

Sunday will see lighter rain, followed by cloud early evening, highs of 13C.

However looking ahead further – by the second full week of October weather conditions are expected to shift to warmer spells as a new weather front sweeps across the UK.

The Met Office said: “A potential change in the weather is signalled around the middle of October.

“Whilst further rain and strong winds are likely at times, spells of fine and dry weather could become more widespread and long-lived.”
