Another Cleethorpes school affected by coronavirus
Twenty seven pupils at a Cleethorpes primary school are in self-isolation after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
Bursar Primary Academy on Clee Road has informed all parents of the situation by letter.
The announcement comes on the same day it was revealed other families in Cleethorpes had been advised of a confirmed case of Covid-19 linked to Signhills Infant Academy.
The headteacher of the adjacent Signhills Academy junior school, Steve Carr, said it was within the Signhills Infant Academy community, however no pupils or staff had been advised to self-isolate as a result of the case and both schools remained open.
Bursar Primary Academy said it had informed Public Health England and the Local Authority and had been advised to have those pupils in the affected class isolate for 14 days.
The member of staff is also now in self-isolation.
A statement on social media said: “A member of staff at Bursar Primary Academy has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now in self-isolation.
“The Academy has informed Public Health England and the Local Authority and has been advised to have those pupils in the class isolate for 14 days.
“The Academy has informed the families of 27 pupils within the class to self-isolate for 14 days. All staff members on site have also been informed. There is no requirement for any other pupils in other classes in school to isolate.
“The classroom involved has been regularly cleaned and will be closed from today. The classroom will not be used until the 14 days have elapsed.”
Parents and carers were advised to phone the school if they had any further concerns.
The news comes as the BBC has reported the growth in cases of coronavirus may be slowing down.
A team at Imperial College London analysed samples from 84,000 people chosen at random from across the country and said the R number, the virus’s reproduction number, appears to have fallen since measures including the “rule of six” were introduced, said the BBC.
However, they warned cases were high, with one in every 200 people infected.
They say this showed a rise from an estimated one in every 800 people infected with the virus at the end of August and beginning of September, when they last reported their findings.
