Local school sends bubble home after positive Covid-19 case

Another school in Cleethorpes has sent an entire bubble home after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Year 2 pupils at Middlethorpe Primary Academy have been advised to self-isolate for 14 days, but the primary school remains open to all other pupils.

The news comes after a member of staff at Bursar Primary Academy also tested positive.

Parents of pupils at Signhills Infant School have also been confirmed of a confirmed case.

Mrs Simpson, Head Teacher at Middlethorpe Primary Academy, has issued an email informing parents of the situation. It reads:

“I am writing to inform you that a staff member in school has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have taken advice from Public Health England and have decided, with the support of the Enquire Learning Trust, to close the Year 2 bubble as a precautionary measure.

“We have carried out a full risk assessment and identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have recommended that they stay at home and self-isolate until 14 days after their last contact.

“This does not affect the rest of the school year groups as they do not identify as close contacts.

“The measures that we have put in place to socially distance each bubble have been implemented precisely for this type of circumstance, to minimise disruption to education for as many pupils as we can at all times.

“We understand that this disruption is far from ideal, but I am sure you can appreciate that we have to follow clear procedures in light of a positive case.

The school has confirmed that it will continue to follow advice from Public Health England to ensure the safety of both children and staff.
