Popular Humberston venue shuts its doors
A popular Humberston venue has closed.
Lucarlys, on Wilton Road, made the announcement on social media.
A statement said: “Well today is the last day for the current management. We’d like to thank everybody who has visited and supported us in the last three years and four months. Our belief is the venue will be closed temporarily but keep a look out.
“Take care everybody from the current management and staff.”
Lucarlys was launched by local £7.5 million National Lottery winner Roy Gibney in 2000 and named after his daughters who ran it, but has been in other hands for many years.
A spacious building with various rooms, it has been a popular bar and well-known as a venue for many types of private parties and functions, including weddings. It has been well-used by rugby and football clubs and hosted many sports events.
Live bands have also been a feature of the entertainment, as well as large firework displays.
Some followers of the venue on Facebook expressed concerns about people who had already booked and paid for rooms for future events and whether they would get their money back, with a reply stating they would get full refunds or have their bookings honoured by the new management.
