Masked men launch targeted attack

An investigation has been launched into a case of assault at the junction of Weelsby Street and Harold Street in Grimsby yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at around 2:25am on Tuesday 13 October.

A public appeal has now been launched. Humberside Police officers are requesting that independent witnesses come forward.

Officers and were called to the scene following reports of two men assaulting a male victim and causing damage to vehicles, before fleeing in the direction of Hamilton Street.

Humberside Police have described the first suspect as white, of skinny build, with a scarf around his face.

He also wore a cap and had his hood up.

According to reports, the second man was also white, taller than the first man and of stocky build.

He is said to have been wearing a balaclava and had his hood up.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, and has since been discharged.

Officers believe the incident to be an isolated attack.

They have now launched an appeal and are seeking to identify two masked men in relation to this targeted attack.

Detective Sergeant Ian Potter said:

“Our investigation so far suggests that this was a targeted attack and we’re working to establish who is responsible.

“We have a number of lines of enquiry that we are following up and we’re grateful to everyone who has come forward with information so far.

“While we don’t believe that the wider public are at any risk, we understand that incidents like this can leave people feeling unsettled and concerned.

“Officers remain in the area, both as part of the investigation and to offer reassurance, so please speak to them about any worries you may have”

Anyone with information which may help Humberside Police in their investigation is urged to call the non-emergency line on 101, quoting incident 34 of 13 October.
