The school remains open to all other students and members of staff, and has reassured parents that all necessary safety measures have been put in place.
A spokesperson for the school said:
“We know some of you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.
“This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support you child, please be reassured that for most people coronavrius (Covid-19) will be a mild illness.
“Everyone who has been in close contact with the child who has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) has received a separate letter informing them that they must stay at home for 14 days.
“The rest of the school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.”
The news follows an incident last week where a number of members of staff were told to self isolate following fears that they had broken the rule of six on a caravan holiday.
A number of children from the affected bubble are now in isolation.
