New manufacturing site to create 300 jobs in Scunthorpe

Plans have been announced by Wren Kitchens for a manufacturing site at the former DHL warehouse on Scunthorpe’s Foxhills Industrial Estate.

Wren Kitchens already have one active manufacturing facility in the town.

The new development will create an additional 300 jobs.

A detailed proposal submitted to North Lincolnshire Council has outlined plans to transform the vacant warehouse into a manufacturing centre and offices.

Documents state:

“This application is made for the change of use of the site from a B8 use (storage and distribution) to a B2 use (industrial).

“The building is required to accommodate the expansion of the quartz production process by Wren Kitchens thereby producing 300 additional jobs in the Scunthorpe area.

“The council will be aware that Wren Kitchens are currently expanding at their main factory in Barton Upon Humber with the construction of a new factory which will house an entirely new process.

“The [new] site is required to accommodate the expansion of Wrens current quartz facility.”

If approved, it is expected that the facility will be operational and providing work for the local community as early as next year.

Plans are currently open for public consultation, and are set to go before North Lincolnshire Council at a later date.

Recruitment is already underway.
